Does anyone know of a replacement system for the factory fitted as its crap, using a Tom tom on the windscreen is not in the spirit of things?

Im sure if you dig around the internet enough you can at least find an updated Sat nav disc that will give you a postcode search.

Other than that, its smartphone sat nav in your car.

I managed to source a 2014 disc and it works perfectly, its just using the inbuilt satnav that is pretty poor.

Given that the dash hasn't changed on the later models, the sat nav part anyway there is no reason why you can't put the Garmin from the later models in there. I find this excellent on my V12 Vantage and includes positions for the revenue scameras too.

If you want Tom Tom the best way is via a Parrot

I'm not so sure the Garmin is a retrofit for older cars. Do you have any "actual" knowledge of compatibility?

The best route guidance system that I have used is HERE navigation.
Would you believe it is free.

A useful and, in MY experience so far, a very accurate feature is the speed limit monitoring. It knows the speed limit all the time, and gently chimes when you go over the limit.

I am using an Android version on an off-line tablet.

I recall a past topic about how to make the Sat Nav screen receive other video feeds, so maybe there is a way of connecting HERE to that display.

I've used the Garmin over several trips in courtesy cars and, while it looks more modern, its functionality is no better. My V12V must have been one of the last cars with the Volvo hard drive system.

I did call the factory about this and had a lengthly discussion. I have a 2009 V12 Vantage and want to upgrade the Volvo unit and was told it's not possible without a full centre stack and loom replacement as the GPS module and other connectors aren't the same. They advised it would be cheaper to buy a new car smile
