I recently bought my first DSG equipped car (Passat B6 2L TDI) and I am really struggling with parallel parking on gradients. If I use autohold and reverse the car starts moving way too fast for precise maneuvring in tight spaces and the grinds to a halt if I try to slow. Without autohold I am potentially rolling down the hill and wrecking the box, so I don't much fancy that. Its a very long car as well to make it even more challenging.
I am fine on level roads, but near my house it is impossible. I've driven manual for 10+ years and never had ANY trouble. I hope I missed some not-so-obvious trick or button?

So how do I go about reversing into parallel parking space that is on a hill slope?

Turn auto hold off, use it as a traditional automatic. It won't roll back, mine certainly doesn't.

on steeper incline it looked like it would roll... I am really scared of damaging that mega expensive DSG thing.

If you are climbing the north face of the Eiger, may be an issue, but I've not found a hill yet thats caused a problem. If I did, I'd left foot brake and give it a little throttle to stop it rolling.

My only two autos have been 3.0TDis (E61 BMW and C6 Audi A6) - as such, I've never had a problem with the car rolling back even on steep hills as the torque will hold it there and it will even creep forwards up hills. When I'm at home - gentle gradient on our drive, I park it on the brake alone.

As such, I figured all autos were like this until I had to park a friend of mine's Passat 2.0TDi. I was very surprised that even on the flat, it required some throttle to get it moving.

So this whole post has been no help other than to say the answer is that you need a 3.0 engine...
