Hi All

Our first time at Le Mans. We sadly got booted from MB to houx un-numbered due to the Porsche debacle.

So, we have a 6.75m long Motorhome, and ive read a lot of the pitches have trees, which may prove problematic.

I realise we will get allocated a pitch on arrival, but does anyone have a recommendation which plot to stay in (or area as I know they dont have numbers)

Also on the beer mountain map - http://beermountain.com/uploads/pdfs/2013%20Houx.p... it shows Non-num and non-num tente. I assume the non num tente pitches may have trees and for tents only and the non num pitches (shaded pink ish) are for larger vehicles perhaps??

Thanks in advance for your help. Feel free to come on over for a drink, we will have a flag pole with a yellow smiley face, blue checkers and lots of pretty lights for when it goes dark. Oh and not to mention 1000 water bombs and a catapult! :-)

Most of Houx is numbered, and the non numbered pitches tend to stuffed into the gaps, edges and ends.

There are trees on Houx but mostly on the first half nearer the entrance, depending on how early and empty it is when you arrive you may be directed further in where the are less trees.

Please don't water bomb me :P

I doubt you'll make many friends on Houx with water bombs and a catapult....

:-) Waterbombs are purely for defensive purposes, in group fighting and friday. None shall be aimed at passers by :-)

I'd not recommend the water bombs.

PS We are in a group of 27 who won't appreciate it smile

Understood. We are actually exptremely considerate, would not be doing anything daft around others. It seems you tube clips show loads of water fights within camp sites etc with everyone joining in.

Advice dully noted, and water fighting equipment removed from bags :-)

PS isnt there a judge dred landy that goes around soaking people ;-P ??

Non numbered pitches are normally as you say the plots with trees etc. There are some at the ends or rows that may be OK, but will be next to the main track (ie dusty. wet and noisy), There are some pitches that are adjacent non-numberd with 1 tree in the middle, get these and you should be OK as the other pitch would be unusable anyway. Head to the far end of Houx and you may find a decent pitch away from the trees.

Not sure how popular you will be with next door either with a huge motorhome that only just fits on a pitch but you maybe lucky. Suggest you let next door put some beers in your chiller!

Have a good race anyway!

Beers in my fridge are always welcome :-)

We wont be using much of the other half of our pitch, so dont mind friendly neighbours encroaching :-)

Super soakers are fair game but stuff that can hurt people or cars doesn't go down well! You'll have a great time

The pitch map is out of date - whole shebang is rearranged this year.

However, if they haven't changed that much, there used to be a pair of non num pitches at the end of each rang in the 40-50 range - at the end of the row furthest north.

These are great pitches when dry, but in the wet they get slightly boggy up near the 50 end. A motorhome should manage no bother tho.

Thanks for that. I was looking at those thinking they would be great, but had heard about the great lake that appeared one year :-) - looking at the weather so far we may be lucky

The spare non-numbered pitches used to be used for "turn and camp" les frenchie mates and relatives of the gate staff. Quite suprising when you ask or look for their camping pass they don`t have one and really don`t understand why you have paid so much for your plot.
You might find that a few youngsters about on the Thursday night after qualifying, have just turned up with a rucksack and set up camp too. Not normally too much of a problem.
Can`t quite imagine it happening over here though.

I am not sure if a non numbered houx pitch is suitable for such a large motorhome, even a numbered one will be a real problem in most cases, you should have booked a motorhome space on one of the correct spaces, If you arrive after dark there may be further problems as said the non mumbered spaces are usually the awkward spaces and a big motorhome will be difficult to get in safely

Im hoping your wrong. We booking through Just Tickets a llooonnnggg time ago. In fact we were the 6th people to do the pre registration last year but with the MB problem we got booted to Houx. They reassured us we would be fine in houx, but having never been im at the mercy of those with superior knowledge here. At least arriving on Tuesday we should have time to sort any problems.

Personally, i disagree with gt6, but houx is a big spot and i've always been in 1 big square of it!

Up "our" end, there are non num all along the concrete wall. A pair of these would be fine for a winnebago parallel to the road. Access no problem either.

Imo as long as you're a weds / thurs person not a friday person, you'll have no issues whatsoever.

Thanks for this, which end are you?

Mums with us and whilst shes not 6 ft under yet, trying to minimise the walk or cycle around would be good, so I was thinking of trying to get more towards the Annexe end (for the tram link to LM). Plus we are in Dunlop Trib so it would be 10mins shorter walk (I think)

The camper is 6.75m so fits within the dimensions (trees dependant!)

Your motor home will fit within the notional 7m pitch size and isn't too big.
You're also turning up early so shouldn't worry about finding a space. Check out gt6s posts, he is anti motorhomes and caravans and thinks everyone should be segregated.
The great thing with Le Mans camping is the variety of people and equipment used.
I've chosen MH parking this year and have bought 2 pitches due to length of vehicle but will miss the atmosphere and variety of Houx, BSJ or TL
On the upside though we'll be near main gate and on hard ground.

I'm not sure about the waterbombs and catapult either......especially when it goes wrong and you end up getting a wet patch on your gentlemens area.......on the flip side you will make everyone else laugh.....I'm getting the top bunk right.....
