I got a parking ticket on the 23d December and I was about to pay it, when I decided that I actually pay enough in tax, road tax and fuel price duty, therefore I will not go down without a fight.
I sent a very polite objection, saying that whilst I clearly parked in a pay & display bay without displaying a ticket, and thus admitted the offence, the road markings were the same as on my resident parking bay two streets away. Moreover, I pointed out that there were no signs on the nearby lamposts, thus further leading me to believe that I was entitled to park in the bay as I have a Resident Parking Permit for the area.
I thought that the whole appeal was a long shot, BUT...
Got back home yesterday to find a letter from Greenwich Council telling me that I didn't have to pay for my parking ticket as the markings on the road and lampopsts were not clear, and thus it was easy to make geniune mistakes. I was also informed that Pay & Display signs will be painted on the tarmac ASAP
I am off to spend the £100 in Oddbins...
