Help!

I had a power failure just as my PC was shutting down and in Firefox and Netscape it's like I've just installed them.

I've lost my favourites (bookmarks) and all other settings.

Can anyone point me in the right direct where I might find the lost settings. I use Windows 2000, so I don't think I can roll back to an earlier checkpoint.

Bookmarks > File > Import.

If you still have your ie favourites, you can import them from there.

Would be interested to know the answer as to why it happens though, as I was bitten by this once.

I had some issues when I installed Firefox on this new box just in the last week.

I had a problem where it seemed to lose my settings - what was annoying was I'd just converted all my old IE favourites (or "favorites" as the people we kicked out of the UK a few centuries ago insist on calling them!)

I solved it (I think) by searching for "bookmarks" which are probably somewhere under documents and settings? 'Cos there still there somewhere!

If you find an easy way to back them up, let me know!!!

Doh - there's an "export" staring me right in the face!

It's not just my bookmarks that have gone, it's the toolbar settings, tab setting ...everything.

Looks like when you restarted Firefox it has set you up a completely new profile with all default settings. However as has been said old profile files more than likely still fine.

Have a look at this page for more info as full of useful stuff:

Good luck
