Having a bit of a problem with the hooter on my '99 S1.

I have checked the fuse and the relay and they seem to be fine, but the hooter has stopped working. I haven't had a chance to check anything with a meter but wondered if anyone had experienced similar?

Any help much appreciated.......

Mine did exactly the same, I checked out fuse/relay, turned out to be the horn itself!

Had it checked and replaced during service.

I fitted a second-hand quick release wheel (QRW), I had the same problem. One of the contacts that stays on the car when you remove the wheel was a bit too far away from the wheel when in place. I put some tap around it (made the cable thicker) to hold in place, tight to wheel contact. I know you may have a standard. In either case try this...

To test. take wheel cover off if standard wheel,if QRW take wheel off, put a piece of cable across the contacts, if ok, the horn will sound!

Mine packed up on my s2 for no reason. it is a pretty pathetic horn any how. There is a replacement air horn available on a few elise sites for about £16 that i'm going to try. I've found the horn handy to stop white van man reversing over me.

I've just had a air horn delivered today. Cost £28 (elise parts), suprisingly heavy! Doesn't seem to be too difficult to install, although you do have to remove wheels and wheel arch linings to do it. Nothing wrong with my horn (yet) I just think the car needs a more manly noise. Will let you know how easy it is to install on monday!
