I've stripped the old tank out and found it's was full clogged with some sealant i used to seal the fuel sender & bottom cap after using the por15 kit (sealant was supposed to be fuel resistant stuff so maybe I just slapped on too much) . This will be why the car was being starved of fuel again and not that the por15 had failed as I assumed!

So now I have 2 tanks that are okay to use! I was going to put the new aluminium tank I but I've noticed it doesn't have the earth tab on like my old one - can I solder a tab on (I can't see it holding for long)?

That's approx 52 litres or 11.5 gallons then. That's approx 230 miles in a V8S and 350 in a V6. Thanks thumbup

You can but not with ordinary solder!

Specialist stuff required and I think the earth tag would also have to be alluminium.

Other option may be to solder an earth tag directly to the sender unit (steel) then tank won't need earthing scratchchin

This might sound daft but electrics aren't my thing!! Can I just earth directly to the sender via the brass screw like the feed is ?

What brass screw?

Is there an another screw or stud apart from the one the "feed" goes to?

( the feed isn't a feed it's the earth that goes via the sender, a variable resistance, to earth)

I have 2 wires to attach - one went on the sender (via the screw which I assumed to be brass) and the other the tab on the side of the tank near the sender ( this tab my new tank is missing)

I'm saying (probably stupidly) can I wire the 2 together on the sender!
