991 GT3: how do i find the Engine Number ?

Afternoon all... just wondering, where is the engine number stamped ? Easy to see ?

Just need to find it for some paperwork. Any thoughts where I can find it ?

On a 997.2RS it is stamped on the engine...




In the circled area, it is stamped on the central fin. You can read it on the right hand side of the fin. You may need to wipe away the surface dirt in order to see it. You don't need to raise the car...just lie down a bit underneath the back.

Not sure if a 991 has the stamp in the same area....but hope that helps

If its the 991 is the same as the 997 then its 30 second job....you don't need to lift the car....

Have you tried looking on the V5?
or maybe the engine replacement certificate?

Sorry, maybe my mistake, but I thought the cars built in 2015 already had the updated engine ?

Should have clarified that it was built in April, LHD car.

Just went under the car. No joy, due to the engine cover.

But I did find a sticker on the passenger side where the door hinges are. It has my VIN number, and then underneath "ENGINE MA175 followed by a space and then another number (one letter followed by 5 numbers). Could that be it ?

You'll have one on the underside of the engine lid as well as the one in the door shut.

The engraved number is on the crankcase just in front of the oil pump / under the crank pulley

I often wondered how determine a 2014 to a 2015. Yep, mines the same MA175 space then F and numbers..
