Should I keep old ECU??

Griff is running lovely after fitting the new ECU, the one I have put in is the standard Land Rover one, my question is should I keep the old chipped one and forfeit my £65 surcharge and if I do is it possible to swop the chip? Just looks like a burnt track on the old one so may even repair quite cheaply then put the original back in! Has anyone come across this situation before? Simon.

I was uner the impression ECUs were expensive - if you don't mind me asking how much was the replacement one?

I have a problem with my ECU which is hopefully being repaired.

Hi,
The new unchipped one was £225+vat+£65 surcharge, still goes like a missile so swopping the chip over is not that important just wondered if anyone had done it.

Thanks. I think if I was in your shoes I'd keep the old one and get it repaired by Mark Adams. Until mine decided to go wrong I hadn't heard of the problem but having a spare for not much more than £65 effectively, sounds a good idea.

Does the old unit have the Tornado chip ? if so keep it because Mark will always re-map it at a later stage.
Sometimes the ECUs are knackered beyond feasable repair, but £65 isn't much , yes i agree send it to Mark Adams for testing.

a std 4 litre or less L/rover ECU your engine will be

MAJORLY LEAN, and on sustained hard use MAY BLOW YOUR ENGINE!!

get the ecu rechipped by Mark and refit!

£265 will keep you on the road around town while its done then either keep it as a spare or flog it on Ebay.
