Speed limits M20 near Dover
Discussion
Just a heads up for those coming via the M20 to Dover.
The last leg, from Folkestone to Dover just after the motorway has ended and it becomes the A20 has an average speed check in place of 40mph, just in case anyone from further afield may not know. They are enforcing it apparently, not just up there for show.
It's a three month test to improve traffic into Dover, but a ballache all the same!

Traveling from south Yorkshire I have always preferences the A2 M2 A2 this year I was going to do the M20 should I still do this or go my usual route?
I'd planned to be hitting Dover at about half 9am on Thursday.
I drove along this section of road a couple of weeks back at 7am there was no traffic which made it even worse to see such a great stretch of road down to a single lane due to traffic cones and stupid average speed cameras. This bloody country is going backwards! I'd planned to be hitting Dover at about half 9am on Thursday.

Yep it's a PITA, I travel it weekly. 40mph for 6 miles although infact no cones. Regularly policed by a camera van in the layby approx. 3 miles out of Dover as well as the yellow gantry cameras. Frustrating, pointless , brainless and a scheme with no logical/intelligent basis. I got so frustrated on one journey that I called the Highways Agency Hotline and the nice lady told me that it was a scheme to control lorry speed and prevent illegal immigration. I couldn't summon up the energy to point out that as I crawled along in the inside lane a fleet of European HGVs were barrelling past me at 60mph. Also Southbound vehicles in Kent are unlikely to be contributing to IMMigration into the UK.
But hey-ho looks like a sunny weekend, it'll only add 10 mins to your journey time and just savour that feeling of getting the top down and planting your right foot as you head South out of the Boulogne toll booths..(allowing for local speed limits...)
