RV8 14CUX Idle air valve
Discussion
A while ago I changed the idle air valve on the RV8 in my truck because it wasn't working properly. I bought a new one in a blue box and was assured by the sales guy that they were as good as the old ones but if there was a problem I could return it (12 month warranty). Since I changed that part the truck as covered less than 1000 miles.
I noticed last night that the idle speed was excessive once warmed up (loud too) so just checked a few things: air leaks on hoses, breathers, loose plenum and whatever - no fault found.
Fit another old idle air valve which I'd recently acquired and the idle speed returns to normal.
Blue box part going back to the shop in the morning.

I bought one and it was fine for a while, and then on a trip the idle suddenly went crazy. After a bit of investigation I found the valve had snapped!
Half the thread was in the plenum and half was on the valve. They swapped it with no bother, but the casting certainly didn't look as robust as the original.
By the way, if you have Rovergauge you can power the valve (stepper motor) out to clean it which may prolong the life of an old one.
