Las Vegas Restaurants

Will be spending 4 nights in Las Vegas next month. The first night I plan on going somewhere casual for dinner like Cheesecake Factory but would like the other 3 nights to be pretty memorable. I will be with my wife on our honeymoon and we both like restaurants with good views, plus want steak on one of the evenings.

One evening we will be seeing MJ One at the Mandalay Bay so would welcome any recommendations in MB or very close by? Border Grill has been mentioned. Looked at Aureole but menu didn't take my fancy.

On the other two nights, I was considering Olives at the Bellagio and then Top of the World at Stratosphere (before heading to Downtown). Anyone got any experience of these or would recommend others?

"Gallaghers" in the New York New York was a great meal and the New York strip steak was gorgeous.

Brunch or Breakfast in the Ballagio is a must - incredible amount of varied food on offer

Stratosphere was a huge disappointment. Its in a grotty part of town with some right old rough sorts roaming the streets. We walked to it from the monorail, maybe get a cab or the bus !

Grand Canyon is a must if you have time. Maverick do a light aircraft tour that is only 4 hours long and was spot on for us. We didnt fancy the boring 3hr bus ride there and the same back. 4 hours in out , job done.

Have a search as there was a Las Vegas thread running on here that had some great info on it. I might have bookmarked it..... Its a wacky place alright !

The rooftop bar in Mandalay is pretty nice - I think it is called Mix.
Dinner at the place at the top of the Palms was really good too.

The eiffel tower was good. let drop it was the honeymoon and got the best seat in the house, overlooking the bellagio fountains, which was pretty sweet. food was excellent.

Thanks for the info so far. I have read that Mix is closing soon. Will check out Gallaghers as definitely want a steak place one night, just so many to choose from!

Interesting points regarding Stratosphere. Was definitely planning on getting transport there and then a taxi to Fremont Street after dinner but thinking now that we may just go to the bar 107 for happy hour and eat somewhere else. I had heard it was great for the view but suppose we can get that with the bar and then eat somewhere nicer.

I have booked a Maverick helicopter tour, the Wind Dancer one.

Wife loved it there, we had planned the stratosphere but after the eiffel decided it would be a bit of a let down, if i remember right you need to book and wear a jacket.

Olives @ Belagio was one of the most overpriced & overrated places I have ever eaten so I wouldn't recommend. What didn't help was that we went there the night after going to the 3 Michelin starred Joel Robuchon (not the cheaper Atelier de Joel Robochon), at the MGM Grand. An unforgeable experience in so many ways including the limo pick up and drop off, the personal walk through the high roller entrance, the unbelievably plush decadent luxurious setting and of course, the food & service. Wow.

Re the steak places..... do a little menu surfing. Some places think they are uber high end and charge ridiculous money for the same cut of meat as one a 3rd of the price. There is tons to choose from. My feet were aching trying to get round and see it all. You soon get an idea of the genuine places and the boutique rip off joints.

+1 for Joel Robuchon. Unbelievably great food and wonderful service. Not cheap but worth the splurge.

I've never had a filet steak I couldn't finish... Until I went there!

Absolute monster and devine with it.

My wife had lamb chops-8 of them that were the biggest I have ever seen- a great meal.

Also the steak place in Caesers Palace-opposite where Matt Goss performs, also very good.

I came back from LV two weeks ago and this time round did the Grand Canyon with Maverick- excellent trip- although was £1300 for my wife, youngest daughter and I (was worth every penny though..)

Blimey, I went a few years back when it was $2 to £1 and the Maverick chopper trip was about $300
We went to Craftsteak at the MGM which was pretty good, though all I can remember of that meal was the mashed potatoes!

Yep, that's sterling and not dollars.

I wish I'd never opened my Amex bill ( along with the charge for the pool cabanas at the Venetian for the week)...
