Out with a couple of friends tonight. Need suggestions for where to eat. Central/East London. None of us want Chinese or Indian so rules out China Town and Brick Lane. Suggestions?

Mangal2... I follow them on twitter for some reason. Quite funny and very un-PC.

I like Tramshed, Hoxton...preserved cow in the middle of the place and great steak, not the cheapest mind.

Merchants Tavern, Shoreditch is also pretty good by all accounts.

You might see Gilbert and George (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_%26_George) in Mangal 2.

I prefer Mangal 1, just round the corner in Arcola Street.

Never seen the point in these really. Much better to have just one burger in a bun with pulled pork, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato - that way it's easy to handle and eat. Then simply have three of them! smile

Thanks for the input all. Ended up in Shoryu Ramen on Regent Street. Bloomin' excellent food. Great atmosphere. Proper Japanese food! Can definitely recommend.
