After a successful MOT I drove my car home fine but once I tried to move it around 10 mins after I found on start up that fuel was flowing out at a fast rate from the fuel tank cap when the cap was on. After taking off the fuel cap to see if it was to do with pressure it still pumped it straight out. Any one have any ideas on what this could be? Not really experienced this before.
Car is 350i fhc 1985

Cheers

Hi mate...This happened to me when i was in Belgium last year and i nearly burnt down an ancient forest...

Check to make sure the atmospheric breather which is located at the rear N/S wheel arch isn't blocked..If you can blow up it to make sure there is no resistance but more often than not its just a case of over filling the car..It should only come out of the overflow but any weak cap seal then it will flow passed it...smile

Cheers for the help I'll have a look think I'm gonna let it cool down a bit then try and siphon a bit of fuel to make sure I haven't overflowed it at all.

I had this once but when I removed the cap it spurted fuel out for a couple of seconds then stopped so it was pressure but I dont know why with yours it has not stopped.

Started the car up again after letting it cool and it seems to be all good now, not really sure what was up with it but least it's not happening now. Will just have to be wary of it in the future
