Evening, the car should be going in to a garage next week, but just incase has anyone had this:

loss of power/limp mode/seems like no boost/turbo when you floor it ie foot down...pulls all the way and then all of a sudden nothing...wont go over 2k revs..turn it off and start it again and its fine?? its not the gearbox as it pulls through all the gears fine and changes smoothly

braking...foot on the brake with car stopped and you can feel the brake pedal push back, and the car can creep forward. when the car has been revved a bit it all works fine, brake fluid level is fine..any ideas?

Car is not being used right now until this is sorted. Thanks

Mileage is 120k, serviced on time etc, has a brabus d6 power upgrade but this has been on since new and its 2006 model

I know the engine is in lots of mercs of this era, so possible someone has had these issues before..

That is an electrical problem.

My guess would be MAF or the swirl flap motor.

Search for Mercedes Swirl Flap delete, you can bypass it to test it.

You got any oil down the side of the engine below the intake manifold?

We have two MB V6 diesels in the family, and together they have had three faults which sound like they fit the bill (although nothing ever affected the brake pedal):

The one which really fits the symptoms is simply clogged up turbo-vanes - it affected my wife's E320 estate, which spends a lot of time gently pootling - EML light on, inability to accelerate, and the engine note sounded different. MB standard response is a new turbo; quarter tank of Shell Nitro diesel, two bottles of Forte turbo cleaner, Italian tune-up - clouds of muck from the exhaust, re-set EML light, problem gone.

The other, as already suggested, is the inlet port shut-down motor which sits in the vee of the engine and gets oil dripped on it from the inlet tract. On my CLS, a new motor sorted it (circa £600 replaced at main dealer), but on my wife's E, the inlet manifold was damaged and the repair came to £2,100, although MB made a circa 40% contribution as the car was 4 years old at the time and has full dealer history.

Inlet port shut off motor can be bypassed, simply unplug the connector and than put a 10p 4.7k ohm resistor over the 12v and signal wire.

The flaps will stay in the correct position, ie not blowing dirty exhaust gasses back into your engine coking it up and causing more issues.

Get the codes read, otherwise you are just throwing money at things with no real idea what the issue is.

But it is definitely electrical rather than mechanical as you can still change gear, when mechanical, something like the auto 'box, you get stuck in 2nd or 3rd but you can still go through the revs.

So reckon inlet port motor or MAF.

When you first turn off the car and then start again, do you get full power back until you gun it?
It yeah, then it points to inlet port motor.

Get down Maplin tomorrow and by a 4.7k ohm resistor.

OK, so 49p rather than 10p but still a cheap fix if it works.

I also think brakes are a different issue BTW.

Thanks for the replies so far, i thought i would give a treatment a shot...I put About half a ltr of lucas upper cylinder and injector cleaner in thé tank, gave it a proper blast! Let it run for a good while, There was a lot of smoke, and then on the motorway all of a sudden the eml light went off itself and Its driving great!!

I'm pleased that worked - I reset the EML on the E before the drive, so unsure if it would have done that itself.

Great to hear problem solved...sadly when I had similar issues , the turbo had ceased and Merc fleased me for a new one...which also failed and two weeks later, another installed.
