Spark plug cover sealant

What would be the best sealant to use on the spark plug cover to make it water tight.

I have used the standard black sikaflex 221 sealant several times when I have had the cover off and it has been fine. Takes a bit of practice to get neat though. Have lots of paper towels available to wipe up the excess!

I am looking into finding a rubber sealing strip made to seal that gap properly as I am fed up of scraping sikaflex off my car!
