Hi folks, I have 2007 997.1 GT3 RS that I bought last year that I intend to keep for many years - this is my 6th and most enjoyable 911 to date by far. I'm looking to create a fully transparent story of the cars life to date. I know the car started life in Jersey ( yes I know - why a GT3RS in Jersey !!?? REG J68076 ) and a few years later ended in in the south of England. I know that previous registration numbers on the car were '88 ROD' , 'HF57 CTU' & 'L1 HKO' . It was also on 'S7 CHO' and I've spoken with this owner who was very helpful.

Can anybody shed any light on the cars past ( it has a full OPC service history )

I plight may seem a tad obsessive - but hey that's me !

Many thanks
Barry (Glasgow) (also posted this elsewhere on the net)

My advice would be to give your chassis number to some OPC's and they should be able to tell you where it was originally purchased and serviced within the OPC network. Once outside the network, its a bit harder.

I presume you know where it has been serviced from the service book/ paperwork?

Can't you work back through that and request any back-up paperwork from each dealer. It should also have the owners name.

If you know the where it was and the reg you can check with OPC's/indies local to that (especially if there is a recognised GT3 specialist in that area).

If you haven't done so already, you can send a fiver to the DVLA and they'll send all previous keeper info / plate change history to you.

You can then try and contact the previous owners direct or do some digging online.

DVLA will give you the list of all previous owners for a small fee (if that is of interest to you)
...as mentioned above, OPC can trace original supplying dealer and service visits off the chassis number
....HPI will have given you previous plates
......then google is your friend

He's right you know. took a bit of thinking and checking mine which is same colour combo, also some others and the orange band under the GT3 RS should taper smaller towards front of car. Probably just had them replaced as they do chew up at the rear, but who ever did it put them on the wrong sides.rolleyes

Thanks for all the feedback - always great input from the PH forum. Yes I wondered about the decal and as such I've got a full set ready to on - they were replace some years ago due to stone chipping.

I was unaware of the DVLA / £5 for info option - I should know I'm in the trade !! Ive built up quite a lot of history on the car and this may fill in some blank spots .

Mollytherocker - you are an evil man ! I hope your armpits are infested with a plague of blue bottles while you sleep !

Thanks again guys - really appreciate the input - Ill gain something from the above for sure :-)

I think I recognise one of those regs and the car from Porsche Club track day in 2011. But the car had some extra livery on it which may explain the decals. May have a picture and owner's name. Will check my computer and PM you details if I do.

I wanted to fill in a gap with service history with my car (what was done) I knew from service stamp where it was done but OPC kept saying couldn't provide because of "data protection act".

Eventually convinced them that DPA was to protect the individual not an inanimate object, they eventually provided a copy minus the owners details. Interesting to read DVLA will supply previous owners details!

Hi , Thanks for the reply, I posted this same message on 911uk at the same time as I posted here. Got a few replied but nothing concrete .

I've mailed the Jersey VRO and they kindly replied saying they couldn't help due to data protection and I'm awaiting a response from DVLA .

Thanks anyway for the thoughts .

The amusing thing is that the island has only 30 mph roads with one 100 meter stretch of 40 mph dual carraigeway...that's it smile
