In the nicest possible way, who is nick day and why the fk is his chim 10k over priced? I'm all for getting the values up on our cars but 25k for a 60k chimaera?
I guess I'll list mine at 20k tomorrow then as it has the authentic russell stamp of approval on it??!
In answer to your question, the Tamora is a better buy for your budget. But I'd look at other cars for your budget personally.

Tamora doesn't mention engine rebuild, and while I like the interior, I don't think the colour suits the bodywork. The Chim owner is probably making the mistake of trying to recover what the work cost him, unfortunately that's not how car valuation works!

So I agree with the Shakey, the answer is neither, you can do better for that money!

Here's the same car without the authentic 'mark day' stamp, it's only 8k cheaper though with 15k less recorded. I guess it's all about how far you want your pants pulled down really....?

This Tam seems to have been loved, and probably flexible with price being a private sale?

That green Tam has been on for a while, it was advertised when I was looking in October 2013! I wonder if it's the interior colour that is putting people off?

And that Str8Six Chim is absolutely beautiful!

For that money I could buy 5 Wedges with a bullet proof Rover V8 that costs hundreds not thousands to replace if it goes bang. Just my view......

Although I appreciate what your saying about the other car, the one you link to isn't the same car is it. It's had far less work done to it than than the £25k one, not disputing at all that it might be overpriced but it's not a like for like comparison imo

That £25k Chim is almost like a brand new car by comparison.

Shame about the Chim's dash, ruins the interior IMO

Couldn't agree more, wood dash and a dark dash top and it would be great.

I quite like the alloy dash, reminds me of a WWII fighter plane cockpit!

25k for a fully restored 500 is a very reasonable price IMHO. The car isn't overpriced at all. In fact, go buy a 500 and then fully restore it yourself and see how much the bills without labour come to. If you don't like the dash, change it. It's a very cheap mod compared to a fully restored chassis. You're just not being realistic.

Whilst I agree that the Tam is by far a much more modern drive, you have the inevitable Speed 6 woes to contend with and the electrics. Had this been fully rebuilt by Powers, then it would be a winner.

Whilst any car could cost you a lot of money, you have to weigh-up the balance of probabilities in this case; one that could cost you £10k for an engine rebuild and another that has been rebuilt. Add to that a 12mth warranty from a reputable TVR specialist and it's a no brainier IMO.

I agree - if you read what that Chim has had done to it, it is a bargain. I would think that the cost of all of those upgrades and work would be £25k alone.

If I could have another car in our garage, I'd have it without question.

Wahey steady mate I wasn't being unrealistic. I was playing devils advocate with the guy who seemed to be more concerned about who did the work. I know the score with costs on these cars, and I know you could buy what some people class as a good car for £12k and then spend £15k sorting it.
Just for a comparison between the rosso quoted and the £25k one. Engine rebuild inc cam, nitrons, polybush all round, full body off, that's easily over £11k, not including hood and carpets which add another £1.8k ish. Have a look at what I did to my Chim to realise I know what costs are biggrin

That's a fair price for the work that has been carried out on the Chim. They did my Precat Griff last year, i would suspect it looks like this underneath. Their quality of work is second to none. smile
