Windscreen surround and seals!
Discussion
On a T350 (and i assume all the T cars) is the windscreen surround seal just to finish it off or is it integral to the waterproofing of the windscreen? Reason I ask is that I noticed that although in perfect condition a section of about 8-10 inches at the bottom of the screen isn't firmly stuck at the very edge so I guess water can get beyond that seal in very heavy rain. I guess the windscreen is also bonded so would it be waterproofed even if the seal was leaking slightly? I don't want water getting in to the cabin and cause any electrical gremlins or other damage!
Or should a try and reseal? Although as with all sealant jobs could be fiddly/messy.......!
Also a more general query about all the rubber seals, what do people recommend to treat and maintain them in the best condition?

Hi
Right, the windscreen rubbers are cosmetic more than functional in that they don't hold the window in. They do prevent water ingress though when properly sealed, so your correct in assuming it's important for them to have a decent contact. I recently had mine replaced on the bottom. It was a simple job for the chap that did it and an interesting approach. I ordered the trim, in fact I ordered it twice, once from Power and once from TVR Parts. The reason for that is that both trims were slightly different, one did fit however and the windscreen trim on your car might be the same.
If you are doing it yourself, or simply securing yours better, the guy that did mine used a bonding agent like sikaflex, however he masking taped both sides of the paintwork where the trim was, so when he pushed the trim into place it bled over the masking tape (you can use electrical I think) and when in place, he removed the tape with the gunk. If your simply securing it, then maybe use a syringe to pump it in or the smallest hole on the sikaflex tube.
The overall end result was very good
He then cleaned with white spirit to remove any residue on the screen etc.
In terms of keeping it clean, any good exterior trim protector with a blackening agent is good enough.
Hopefully this helps.

Thanks Steve, that is great advice and a very useful tip to try and avoid getting it on the paint work and or windscreen! Will order up some Sikaflex and get that job done
Are you still driving your T350T or have you stored it while you focus on the Sag?
