Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else on here has blepharitis. I was diagnosed with this and I'm finding it tough to adjust to the daily routine and finding that very little seems to be working. The discomfort is pretty nasty at times.
I started out with one of those heatpacks you heat in the microwave until one day I forgot to take it out of the microwave and it melted
As it happened I was going to the eye doctor that day anyway and he told me to simply use hot water with cotton buds, this seemed to improve things for a few days but not to any dramatic extent.
I also got some Blephasol, which I started using a couple of days ago. Not sure what else I can do.
I'm looking for some help, either from fellow suffers or professionals that know a bit about it. What routines work/don't work for you? Where do you get the stuff you use, how long does it take to clear up for you?
All advice appreciated.
Thanks
Pat

See lots of people with blepharitis, pretty difficult to get rid of sorry.Usual advice is
Hot Compresses and lid massage(oil glands on lids get blocked and inflammed need to warm the lids to "melt" the oil)
Lid hygeine blephasol is good some prefer blephawipes as more convienient ,blephagel or similar if lids are inflammed (other companies make very similar products)
Artificial tears and if really bad Celluvisc or Lacrilube at night
If that doesn't work you can ask your doctor to prescibe antibiotics such as oxytetracycline but can mean a six month course

I had a bout that just came and went a few years ago.
Honestly, I would look to cure it rather than treat the symptoms.
Scrubbing the lids, using hot pads, etc. just dried my eyes out, but if it works for you, then it's a start.
Look carefully at your diet and lifestyle. Mine appeared to be largely stress related.
Hope you get it sorted.
