I managed to borrow a code reader and it has thrown up 5 faults (non running).

26 Volume airflow rear sensor - Circuit voltage too high

25 TPS - Circuit voltage too high

23 Coolant temp sensor - Circuit voltage too high

24 Intake air temp sensor - Circuit Malfunction

22 Volume airflow front sensor - Circuit voltage too high.

I seem to have a high voltage problem!

Is there a resistor somewhere that may have packed in?

Any other idea's

All help gratefully received

On my Rover system the fault code reader will show "historic faults" which may not have have been cleared. maybe some of your faults are "historic"? Can you clear the codes and see what is coming up as new? You do this on the Rover with the software but if that is not available you can disconnect the ECU and leave it for a few hours and it "forgets" all the old codes.

On the list of codes I have with the Ford Star tester - they indicate a problem with the signals from those sensors - but not necessarily too high a voltage?

Should be fairly easy to check - e.g. for the TPS, stick a pin in the centre wire and measure the voltage - should go from about 0.7 Volts up to 4-5 with the throttle pressed.

thinking about this a bit more, all of those sensors share a common return path to the ECU - a broken wire or bad connection here would cause all to read incorrectly by ECU. Check the wiring from these sensors carefully and check continuity back to the ECU (pins 26 and 46)

Thanks Ray,

Food for thought!

I will have a play with the meter this evening.
