is this right?
Discussion
My car is currently being repaired after a bit of an off on a icy road.
They are painting the entire front end both sills and boot lid.
So I asked the question how much would it cost me to paint the remaining bits of the car roof doors and rear wings?
The price I got back has suprised me a little £1150 this consists of £840 labour £100 paint and the rest VAT
Do you good people out there think this is fair?

It's cheaper if you keep the same colour so that awkward spots like under the bonnet and around the interior of the hinges do not need to be painted.
When I had my lights changed I ended up getting my whole car painted (same colour) since they were doing the wings and bonnet anyway. It also guarantees that I won't have trouble later with the new and old paints not ageing at the same rate.

I did ask them how much to change the colour of the car. He said no in other words more than I could afford. So same colour for me. I am keen on getting the whole car done as the paintwork is now getting on for nine years old as the car is an early one 96.
I should not complain really just feel lucky that the insurance company are fixing the car and not writing it off. Finding £1500 or so to get the car back on the road is better than £20k + for another.

I'd check to see if the whole thing can't go through on the insurance, if I were you....
