SOLVED! IPhone mounting bracket, including 6 Plus

I've been trying for years to have my phone in a bracket where I don't have to drill into anything & where it won't get in the way, but is easy to use & easily visible. Enter the Arkon SM688 (from fleabay, cheapest). It's a gooseneck mount which I've attached to the RH bolt of the steering column, just below the plastic shroud, using the seat rail bracket provided. Although you can't really see the light switch & fog light button, they're still accessible behind it.

Perfect if you use your phone as a GPS.

Hope this helps. I used the RH bolt of the steering column bracket because the length to the phone holder is just right & the LH bolt has the wiring loom covering the bolt making it harder to fit. The gooseneck section screws into a hex fitting which attaches to a right angle bracket with the 2 screws in the pic.

I use a Quadlock system for my iPhone 6 Plus in all my cars. It's a suction, but it's rock steady and I'm able to easily enter addresses on the sat nav.

Very neat, but expensive. Are you attaching to the screen or the veneer on the dash? I find screen mounts blocks my vision too much if it's in the centre & my arms aren't long enough;) & the curve on the screen is too acute to put it on the right. As for the veneer, I'd be worried that the suction would detach it from the backboard.

I’ve used it on the veneer and on the glass. I’m sure mine seems to work fine on the right hand side of the screen. I must admit, is usually lives in my Porsche, I only move it to the TVR if I need sat nav, so I'm not 100%.

Just to add to this, I have been using this mount in the Porsche and it's great. I tried it in the TVR and the OP was right, it doesn't really fit. The windscreen is too raked so it blocks too much of the view ahead. I ended up wedging my phone in front of the heater vents, underneath the stereo. The only downside to that was I couldn't operate the window switches.

I was getting mixed up with my post above, I had previously used a smaller suction mount for my iPhone 4S on the screen and the wooden dash with success. The iPhone 6 Plus mount is too large.
