Hi everyone
I have recently upgraded from a PS3 to a PS4 but I am having difficulty watching anything
off my external hard drive plugged through the USB port .
On the PS3 it wasn't a problem to select the hard drive and then the required film / programme however on the PS4 It doesn't seem to even recognise the hard drive is plugged in .
The drive is FAT32 format just in case you need to know .
I also don't seem to have the ITV player app that the PS3 used to have , any help would be gratefully received ,
Many thanks .

I don't think the PS4 at present supports media playback from an external drive, the PS4's multimedia functionality was scaled back a lot compared the the PS3, maybe eventually they will add it but I doubt it. They seem to be marketing it towards gamers primarily with a few streaming apps.
You should see the drive if you go to the backup options, I think that's all you can use if for though.

I currently use my PS3 primarily for TV services such as Now TV and Iplayer. Lately the console has been playing up (after 7 years solid serive!) and I have been thinking of a PS4 as a replacement. Would an Xbox One be better suited for this function?.
I do play games, but primary use would be media viewing.
