Microsoft's presentation just let off a big one in Sony's general direction. Xbox One will be backwards compatible with 360 games, as a free service part of the system, unlike PlayStation Now, which you have to pay for. http://www.engadget.com/2015/06/15/xbox-one-backwa...

Nice. They've also shown a new controller, and stuff about Forza 6, Halo 5 and Fallout 4.

Forza 6 release date is September 15th: a few bits from the promo video - 450 cars with Forzavista. Rain. Tyre walls that can break and bounce tyres on the track. And shiny stuff.

Xbox looks backwards with the above in my opinion.

Who wants to play last gen, other when reminiscing, in which case load up an emulater on a PC!

Ps4 looks forwards with project Morpheus.

Gotta agree with Craste on this one. I remember backwards compatibility being a big deal with PS2 and PS3 and yet I can count the number of times I used it on one hand. MS do seem to be packaging a bunch of older games with new releases (Fallout 3 and 4, Rainbow 6 Seige with the last two Rainbow 6 games) so I suspect that the backwards compatibility angle will be used to help bolster the 'great value' marketing pitch.

Personally I'm more interested in their early access scheme that lets you play Elite Dangerous on XBone right now. I'm torn as to whether it's a good or bad thing (could lead to many half finished games flooding the market) but I'd be all over it if I had an XBone.

NFS looks as arcadey as Underground. Which is what I wanted. Not sure on the drift camera angle though.

Mirrors Edge is open world. Jaw dropped. Gonna be amazing.

personally i'll be using the backwards compatibility in some cases

stuff like assassins creed rogue which only came out on the 360

plus i've got 62 games which I bought and have never played on for the 360 - gives me a chance to get that number down to 60

Not convinced about Mirrors Edge being open world being a good thing.

The reason Mirrors Edge was so good was the tight level design. I can't see them maintaining that quality over an entire open world. Also open world ruined the Batman games, look at Arkham Asylum compared to Arkham City. Asylum was the better game by a long way.

A PS4 Media Player available today! Plays MKV, MP4, AVI and MPEG 2 http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/06/16/media-pl...

Might be an excuse to get rid of the WD Live media box I've got.

Keep your silly tablet and legos game, let me play strategy games on my desk top (not just my desktop)

I love the look of the oculus and can't wait to one day be playing a game like ARMA 3 or battlefield/cod n+1

However, a vice documentary has seriously corrupt my ideal of it.
