Don't think this has been posted before, so oops if it has but saw a little piece in the freebie paper on London Underground this morning.
Apparently VW have had a major sense of humour failure and are trying to sue the film makers that made the terrorist in a Polo ad for damage done to their brand as they perceive it, but can't find them as they are some sort of guerilla film making co-operative.

Miserable gits.
It was praising the car for its strength (cough), so what are they wound up about?
Did someone say something about the lack of humour in the land of straight sausages and leather shorts?
don't mention the war.....
I believ the Germans are actually very fond of that episode of Flowery Twats.
I saw the artical as well, sounds like a great ad and would love to see it if anyone has a link.
The artical says that someone dressed as a steriotype terrorist gets into a polo with a bomb and drives around looking for a target, once found, bomb goes off inside car killing terroist but car stays intact

So, a spoof advert for VW has been made, nobody knew about it till VW started complaining, then it got played on websites everywhere and some news channels. Now it has died down a bit VW are raising the profile again by saying they will sue...
VW have been on it for quite a while threatening legal action and aren't just reacting to it now. Only those websites hosting the video, links or talking about it are continuing to spread the profile.

I posted a link to the ad yesterday , only to see it get pulled . Here is a link to a car forum where you will find a link the the VW ad .

Looking at it in a different light could it be that VW are just trying to extract as much publicity as possible out of the vid?
Would a little viral mpeg, no matter how witty, end up being a newspaper story on its own? Rarely.
VW send in the lawyers and lo, it is newsworthy.
Maybe they even liked the vid and decided to get as much publicity from it as poss without actually being associated with it themselves.
Call me cynical.

We got sent the vid early last week (suspect someone was trying to 'seed' the vid with us) and I queried it with VW's marketing agency.
They were genuinely not amused when they saw it and the potential damage to the brand severely outweighs any 'good' publicity that they may get from the incident.
I spoke to them on the phone - believe me, they did not consider this a 'all publicity is good publicity' event and were immediately on the case. They asked that we didn't run a story on it and that we remove any links to it.
