curious bonnet on this Aston. . .whats under it ?

Looks like a DB4 GT Zagato to me. They had these bulges on the bonnet.

It started life as a standard DB4, owned by one of my schoolmates Dad's. The engine required a rebuild so the car was dismantled and put in a garage at some point before 1988 (when I first saw the car). It was complete but requiring restoration- have asked my buddy to let me know what has happened.

An old school friend ( thankyou jamesb2001 )made me aware of this post purely by chance. 9 BGH was my Father's car from 1969-2007ish. This photo was taken in the late 70s. It was sold to a gentleman around 8 years ago for it to be converted to resemble the DB4 GT Zagato. The original car was a 1959 DB4 MKII Superleggera. It was the original straight six 3.7 litre engine in it ( I say in it, the engine was in its component form when it was sold ). I hope this answers any questions. My Father has retained ownership of the private registration and thanks to seeing the recent photos, he can now chase for it to be transferred back to him; the new owner would appear to need continual prompting!....oh and I think the bonnet looks hideous!

It's a Zagato design and in any case it happens all the time not just with Astons and Zagatos.

Isn't it only MB that are renowned for shutting down any attempts to make replicas of cars no longer in production. Certainly the Jaguar world is full of C and D types replicas and even E-Type look alikes. In the case of the DB4 Zagatos I'd have thought there were more replicas than originals.
