Hi All

I have a small leak from the sump on my chim, but the sump pan itself it corroded so i am going to replace that too. The part however seems to be in short supply and the only plave ive found one is from tvr-parts.com.
Anybody any ideas of where i could get one?

Thanks all

Gareth

Contact Mulfab the baffled sump people.

I'm sure they can do you a non baffled sump if required.

Come back to us on here if you are really stuck. I have kept my standard sump from when I became baffled, in case I ever wanted to return the car to standard.

Alternatively, if the TVR parts sumps are silly money, buy a standard baffled sump from Mulfab for £250 (£180 exchange). The baffles will do wonders for protecting your engine from oil starvation when on track or driving briskly on the twisties. It comes looking as good as new....no rubbish from Mulfab

Isnt the 450 sump pan a standard LR part?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-V8-sump-/121677998...

I may be wrong but I thought it was only the 500 pan that was modified with a hammer for the longer throw?

Your call.
The Mulfab one has baffles welded in to stop the oil sloshing around under G forces, which can cause the engine to pick up air when it needs oil.
The only difference is that Mulfab take a used sump, inspect and check it, and if perfect they completely clean it before inserting the baffles. Presumably the TVR Parts one is a new part

Worth taking it off and cleaning as it may just be surface rust. I can't see it being anything other than standard range rover etc so paying £250 is madness.

Thanks very much for all your help folks.
I'm guessing the mulfab would be a better investment so I'll take a look at them as I'm planning on going to the nurburing!!!
But is the sump for a 450 just a standard part from a land rover?

AFAIK its a standard fitting. I think it was only the 500 that was altered. Check yours isn't surface rust as there is plenty of oil to keep it from rotting. If your tracking it I would certainly invest in a bafled job for the reasons above.

Be careful out there - Der Nurburgring is full of idiots with all the gear and no idea, and an equal number of berks in stripped out Golfs and BMWs and too much testosterone.

If you are planning on any serious amount of track day driving, consider spending a few quid more and having the larger capacity baffled Mulfab sump. It takes 9.5 litres of the good stuff. Also upgrade yourself to a decent oil, and upgrade your brakes/brake fluid. Just ask if you want advice.

Both Phazed and I do regular TDs, and have larger sumps, bigger brakes, better fluid, Shell Helix Racing 10w60 oil (available in 20 litre drums for around £100 on Ebay), roll hoops, harnesses etc etc. Phazed has also added more goodies, like a whole stable of extra horses.....

To be honest I wouldn't be doing many track days at all.
Would this be suitable and fit?

Excellent I'll bid for it.
Now to figure out how I stop the leak from where the header tank bolts onto the chassis
