Driving in France
Discussion
Whilst driving to Le Mans last Thursday I was given the opportunity to make a compulsory contribution to the Gendarmery Christmas club fund. Fortunately, I had the good sense to budget for such a donation and, after the lovely officers had taken pictures of each other with the Aston, I was soon on my way again.
But I understand that things are soon to change as the French Government will be able to tap into the DVLA database which will result in points on our licenses.
I was aware that there was going to be some information sharing at some point, but does anyone know for certain what the points situation will be - if true, it'll certainly take the sport out of what usually is a very enjoyable trip.
I would post this on the speed/plod forum but I'm afraid they'll bite my head off and have me hunted down like a rabied dog.

te,uncontrolled immigration threatening Europe,Putin getting stroppy with the Yanks pissing on his turf, with no answers how to deal with any of this .....
But don't worry the EU will soon be able to give you speeding endorsements.
Glad to see that somebody has got their priorities in order.

Cross Border Enforcement comes into play from May 2017, so from then on we can all look forward to being sent speeding fines in the post from static speed cameras and not just when stopped by police.

Probably correct. It is the revenue that councils and governments really want.
Within topic, because this might be on your route to France.
Have you seen the new 'higher tech' cameras, recently fitted on extension brackets, M25 between junction 6 and 5?
Thousands of drivers have been 'booked' by them, for speeds not much over 70mph.
There appear to be two at present, west and east of Clackets Services.

There's a few between J25 and J23. They're bloody dangerous because it is driver's instincts to stand on the brakes no matter what speed they're doing.
Interesting. I have not driven that section of the M25 for years.
With the two J6 to J5 cameras, I have not noticed drivers slowing as they pass.
Presumably most drivers do not know what those grey metal boxes near the boundary fence are for, or perhaps have not even seen them.

For reference, how much did you budget LD?
€90.00 and a tour of the Vanquish for 216Kmph. A bargain, I thought.
Of course, I should add that you are a very naughty boy...
