I'm about to refit the radiator but remembered it's got a M22 hole in it where the otter switch used to be, what temperature range switch is the original otter as I can't find it !!

Ah, I changed my otter to a m22 as well and really struggled finding one that was right.

Scanned the books in the factors for ages..ended up going for a lower temp as i used to find the fan wouldncone on too late in traffic and although it never overheated it seemed like it took an age to bring the temp down as it was too high when the fan kicked in. Plus the water in the rad always wants to be lower.

Anyway, new one is bang on!

Dug out the receipt and part number INT50090 (I think it's 86-81)

Fit an override while you are at it.

Had mine sealed up, pain in the neck when it leaks. Or when I put the rubber seal in and the damn thing slipped into the side tank and I had to take the sodding thing out. Again.

I found on mine a nice hole to access it when the nearside headlamp pod is out, never knew the hole was there until last week.

Yeah, I know the hole is there but it is still an awkward place to put the bugger. Needing to take out the light and all. Still, I had good practice for removing the damned thing, losing that rubber bung convinced me to seal it up and fit an alternative.

The original leaked but only when the engine was cold, as soon as the rubber (& silicone goop) seal got hot it sealed OK. While the rad was being re-cored I had a M22 boss soldered in instead, however as that was well over a year ago I'd sort of forgotten until I dug the rad out of the lockup.

I'm busy with the oil lines at the moment, I'm moving the oil stat so the hoses take a little more "direct" route and create a space for the EPAS pump bottle.

Don't get me wrong its still like trusting a wolf in a butchers shop!....Whenever I'm driving its...Check Speedo...look ahead..Check fuel gauge...Look ahead...Check oil pressure...Look ahead...Check volts...Look ahead...Check bonnet for unusual flapping..Look ahead...Repeat until you reach your destination..Then pop the bonnet and check everything once you have arrived...The return journey back is the same except you check everything before you drive off....Is that faith...I don't know...so far so good though...smile
