As they're off, why not just get them blasted, zinc & powder coated?? smile

And here they are back from blasting/coating

The old ones still have their bushes, that I could reuse if I have to (no obvious play), but the new uppers need bushes pressed in

I was wrong about the bushes, although the drag strut bushes could have been left alone, the lower arm bushes were were soft enough to move with my fingers. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, when I drove Capri's those inner track control arm bushes used to last no more than 5k miles.

I was very lucky that David at The Garage in Godalming agreed to replace the bushes for me, even with a hydraulic press it took two hours to do them all as the as the lower arm bushes had to be cut out. He also undid the upper ball joints for me as I couldn't shift them. Absolutely excellent service.
