...my PC refuses to acknowledge the presence of my Cnon viseo camera? It has been working fine, but now XP won't detect it. Is there an XP driver or something I need? It's never had trouble recognising hardware before.

Probably cant spell it...

Its probably driver related to be honest.

The reason that you havent had any issues up until now is that XP is pretty hardware aware its only a few things it wont recognise out of the box...

Yes, that's the problem. It has been recognising the same camera with no problems, until I last connected it about a week ago. I've not made any significant changes, although I did update some Mobo drivers. Maybe system restore back to a previous dimension will help. Bloody computers!!

Have you looked in the Device Manager to see if it is showing up with a knackered driver? (Right click over My Computer on the desktop, and select Manage. Window will pop up with Device Manager as option in pane on the left. Select it to list all the hardware odds and sods.)

When I've had similar problems on my PC I've taken the usb cable out and put in another port and gone through the install hardware process again, it seemed to be the only way I could get it re-installed and the 'puter to recognise it.
