My changing car addiction
Discussion
As a few of you may know I have a bad habit of changing cars a bit too frequently, having re-bought the ute I'm suffering with an itch again that I want to scratch, it will mean leaving the Holden/Hsv community for good (maybe), not going to get into a massive thread of what's next as I have the itch for at least 20 more cars, so will be looking at new ways of buying and selling, anyway the ute will be returned to stock soon and parts will be sold on, you guys/girls are awesome and along with the Scooby forums I'm on are the friendliest forum I know, have met some good friends here and no doubt will still meet up now and again, thanks a million Gary

Good on you mate,
Im exactly the same. Buy a car, if it doesnt light my fire it goes and I try something else. I sold the VXR8 In january and bought a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, sold that and bought a 530D..so far thats working out as an excellent all rounder. No doubt though in 6 months it will be sold and something else will cross my radar.
If you can do it without losing money, why not. I made money on the VXR8, broke even on the proker after 5 months running, and wont lose on the beemer.
Good luck

They are epic... ugly as hell but with 450/450 on tap they go like stink, handle better than 99% of cars ive owned and has more luxury than I could ever want in a car. Why not ?

Because it was so good you only kept it for 3 months !?

fair point, although the ONLY reason I sold it was the absolutely dire fuel consumption . 250 miles to £100 was getting painful as a daily mooch for the wife. It was costing around £100 a week compared to £100 a month in the 530D as she only does short little stints to work or school runs.
Apart from that I couldnt fault it and would have kept it for sure.
Anyways, Back on topic.

TBH if you only kept it 3 months you haven't had it long enough to have true running expenses. they are horrendous on spares and reliability. there are loads of Cayennes out there now that people could afford to buy but couldnt afford to run, so are now tired and need ££££s spending on. a RR Sport S/C is a better bet
Cayenne turbo is way to go , liners are better for a start , flying machine , heavy on brakes & tyres & expensive to maintain but it will not fall apart like a Rover Rover , engines , boxes , suspension , wiring , build quality is dire I bought it begining of Jan and sold it 2 weeks ago. Thats around the usual time scale i have a car unless i really really like it. I found spares and consumables very affordable, Front discs and pads are £550 from Porsche. I bought wise and got it from a friend with full main dealer history, and all the common stuff sorted. If you dont do your research you can certainly buy a lemon and throw 3 grand at it straight away.

3k is nothing Range Rover Sport , tdv8 , Turbos , auto box leaks, intercooler, pipework, brake pipes ( on a 09 ) , front arms, rear spherical joints , few other bits try £9K , all for a pawltry 90,000 miles

Thanks mate, some can stick with a car for years but I haven't found one yet that I can, have lost on some but gained on others like you, tempted to try swapping for a bit to see how that works out!Im exactly the same. Yeah swapping is a good option...its amazing what people will try swap you !! I got offered all sorts of cars, some worth £2k more than the Cayenne lol.Only just bought an ls2 vxr 3 inch cobra cat back to go on too, guess I'll be stuck with that for a while!
When I change cars IF I take a hit its usually very very small. On the Cayenne I nearly took a £500 loss, however the way I see it is I would have hired a Cayenne for 6 months at only £500

I find all sorts of bits in the garage from previous cars lol. Found a new VXR8 pollen filter the other day while looking for Porker stuff for the buyer. The good thing is it all just goes on flee bay as pocket money

You are righ. , They are shocking build quality and the things that go wrong with them, for the price they are. Is very poor to say the least.Range Rover Sport , tdv8 , Turbos , auto box leaks, intercooler, pipework, brake pipes ( on a 09 ) , front arms, rear spherical joints , few other bits try £9K , all for a pawltry 90,000 miles

Had an EVO for 6 months..absolutley loved it but sold it due to the rate at which they rust, doesnt mean I didnt really really like it.
Had the VXR8 for 10 months (probably my record !!) and loved that too, sold it due to stupidly long gear ratio's making accelration rather slow and dull. Decided I prefer turbo'd jap cr4p.
Tried the Porker, loved it...except its lust for go go juice as we live in the sticks and it never see's the motorway.
If I, Gary or others can afford to chop and change every five minutes why shouldnt we ? What a great way to try various car until you find 'The One' , I know i never married the first girl I kissed
