Letter from accident management company
Discussion
Hi all
Today I received a letter from an accident management company (Kindertons) saying my car was involved in an accident in a Morrisons car park late last month.
Knew this wasn't me but the missus was shopping there at the time.
Rang the missus and she doesn't know anything about it, called Kindertons and they said she bumped into someone while trying to park. Checked the car and there is a tiny (7cm not down to plastic) scuff on the front bumper - it might have been there before I don't know.
I'm not sure what to do here - she denies it and I was at work...
Do I provide my insurance details to this company? (they have asked for them), try and get CCTV from Morrisons?
A bit of advice would be great

Hand it to your insurers and let them deal. I hate to say it, but you're more than likely going to be paying for it (I'll now get flamed for this, but how many times to people erupt in anger when they're on the receiving end of someone denying involvement). If you really want to deny it then feel free, but it will probably go to court and if you then decide not to go to court, you will be paying. It'll show that you really did know that your wife did it too
The reason I day hand it to your insurers is the lack of damage to your car will show that there is no need for a hire car (whilst the other one is being repaired) from Kindertons at all.

That sounds fair - if she did do it (to be honest the scuff of my car is so small I can see why she didn't notice) then we've got to pay up not arguing with that...
I'll just give my insurance co the details - 3 years NCB down the drain...
How would this work for renewal? I guess i'd put zero NCB down but for accidents to I put them only for her as a named driver, and would she need to do the same for her renewal?
Also sorry should I let Kindertons know my details or just speak direct to Admiral?
Thanks

Exactly as pork911 says. Hand this to your insurer to deal with. Do NOT try to do anything with Kindertons yourself. I'll just give my insurance co the details - 3 years NCB down the drain...

You will probably "only" lose 2 years NCD, rather than all 3 for your first claim in the policy year. The claim was made due to your wife, but unfortunately on your policy, so it's the worst of both worlds. You lose the NCD and have to declare the claim as it was on your policy. Your wife won't lose her NCD on her policy if she has any, but should declare the claim on her policy too.
Thanks guys I'll give them a call in the morning.
Loon - what do you mean by i'd only lose 2 years not 3, sorry don't quite understand there
Just had the missus on the phone - she's demanding to see CCTV and refuses to believe it was her - she is going to be more tricky than the insurance co I think... help

Next time I have a scuff on my car I will go to my local Asda and simply select a victim to pay for it. Call an AMC with their registration number and bobs your uncle.
Gotta love insurers.

Ah yes, good to see you're outraged about this. I've said the OP can defend it all the way if he wants, but experience has taught me that they often accept it was them. I'll advise everyone on here to deny involvement from now on with all claims and the same for any of the PHers who are hit by someone else too. I bet you'll be first on the high horse with that too.
Now get off the thread, if you're not going to help the OP, much like you've said to me on other threads.

She won't get the CCTV as it's probably been deleted. Admiral can try to get it, if it's not, but the supermarket won't release it to you as they'll (incorrectly) quote Data Protection at you. Loon - what do you mean by i'd only lose 2 years not 3, sorry don't quite understand there

You don't lose all your NCD for the first accident. Here's the policy booklet for Admiral single ca policies issues up to March this year (I'm assuming you took it out prior to March as mention renewal, so assuming it's soon)
Page 20 of the policy booklet (actually page 27/56) Section 6 Your No Claims Bonus.

Thanks Loon that doesn't look too bad - renewal is in August and it'd be 4 years NCB come renewal
She is refusing point blank she done it now and so is her mum who is in the car. I don't want someone out of pocket if it was her (my) fault but on the other hand I don't want increase in insurance etc if its someone trying it on...
Isn't it just in Admiral's best interests to pay out and hike up my renewal?
Thanks

Except your claimed expert inside knowledge contradicts what many people here have stated happened to them. There have been many threads where the third party denied any involvement and their insurers have therefore simply refused to entertain any claim.Smiley198700 said:

Think about your comment with Admiral. You're up for renewal you can go elsewhere. How is it in Admiral's best interest to pay out a large amount, then raise your premium by considerably less than that and then watch you wander off to a co petit or so they see nothing this coming year. Sorry, but that's conspiracy BS, so loved on here.
I'll just caution you on this. You can deny it amd your insurer won't pay out, they'll ru. It to court for you, but if your wife then "remembers" or decides it's too much hassle, it won't paint you in a favourable light as you'll have increased Admirals costs unnecessarily. Her mum is not an independent witness unless you're in Scotland.

They may well have and then it goes to court and then the other side either fold (the norm for a guilty party) or defend in court and see what happens. PurpleMoonlight said:

Given that his OH didn't notice the ding/didn't have a confrontation with someone yet a letter has come through the post i'd guess CCTV has done it's job. They will have either

Both of the above
None of the above
If they have evidence your insurer will pay - if they don't your insurer won't pay.
So unless you want to handle the claim yourself just ring your insurance company and they will deal with it.
If the other side prove that she did - your insurance company will pay.
If the don't - they won't.
If you fancy an argument, ring Kindertons and tell them to f
k off.

Apparently there was a passenger in the car who saw it happen??I get the impression ACM's like Kindertons won't back down easily even if there is hardly any/no proof

Passenger is hardly an independent witness. Stop stressing and tell your insurance company unless you want some sport.I get the impression ACM's like Kindertons won't back down easily even if there is hardly any/no proof

Seriously. Don't do the last sentence. It'll end in your tears, along with a wife who'll withhold sex even more than normal Eye witness
