Is there anyway you can test a speed sensor? The speedo needle works on the dash on start up, but doesn't register speed, neither does the digital read out. I've taken it off and cleaned it up and respaced it, but no change.

I'd usually just change the sensor, but there is the dash ECU and the wiring to consider!

Thanks,

Can't help with the cleaning bit Tony, but I had a sensor issue when I first got mine, IIRC I got a new one from Steve Heath (unfortunately I don't think he trades anymore) but it was an easy replace, no messing about with the dash or ECU.

It seems that the speed transducers have always been an issue with some cars. Mine worked intermittently at best until I recently had it changed.

When I see some very low mileage T cars advertised, I do wonder what their real mileage actually is! hehe

It went intermittent for a while, needle flicking about, then I cleaned it and it was OK, now it has stopped altogether, making speed cameras an exciting gamble!

Either get one of these 'proximity sensor m12 PNP no' off rbay or amazon that have two LEDs one showing it has supply voltage and the other that it's detecting and fit that
Or remove your sensor and test it by supplying 12v to it and measuring the voltage across earth and output when you move sensor and a ferrous metal object together using a digital multimeter.
YouTube has videos showing that

I bought and hard wired a Road Angel when my speedo was intermittent at best - I still tend to look at that rather than the speedo, now the transducer has been changed and working perfectly.

Thanks for the tips, I'll give the multimeter a go.
