How much for a 6K service?????

Phoned to book the 'small' 6K service today at a TVR main Dealer, and was astonished at the price, bearing in mind that TVR Power is £449, I was quoted £620+Vat for the same service, the reason givin that it takes as long to do this as the 12K service!!!
Now, I do love my little Tam, but not THAT MUCH!!!!!
And they couldn't even provide a courtesy car!!!! Quite shocking really!!!

Quite shocking really!!!I thought the difference between 6 + 12 k service was valve clearances on the 12 making it a considerably longer job. So how do they get that? Are they in midlands? Will soon be looking to take the T350 for 6k service. I did see that 'OFFORDS' were doing 12k service for £500 all in. May well go there, but will it affect the warranty? I don't know. Anyone?
I thought that new consumer rights laws protected us from the old chestnut of no dealer servicing, no warranty? No matter, I refuse to pay such over inflated prices for an oil change and checking of bits, albeit if it does take 4-5 hours! I have booked it in another place for half the price!!!
I've had a similar price quoted to me, and one thing that has been mentioned is that Power's labour rate is "too low" apparently.
£44 + VAT p/h doesn't strike me as "too low", however I guess Power don't have to support a shiny dealership. A lot cheaper than your average Merc / BMW / Audi dealer though.
That said, I will still be taking my Tuscan to the dealer I bought it from - Silverstone - who are significantly more expensive than Power, but if the quality of service is as good as I have experienced so far then it will (almost*) be worth it.
If the quality dips then I will look at the extra 45 minutes each way to get my car to Coventry, but in the meantime, quite frankly, a couple of hundred quid is only a scratch on the surface of the cost of Tuscan ownership.
However, if my TVR had a RV8 in it then I wouldn't go near a main dealer - no need as I won't need a friendly dealer in the event of an S6 incident.

I agree (slightly) about paying more (slightly more) for very good service, however, when the dealer can't even offer you a courtesy car!!!!!! Not good enough for an overly inflated price! Oh yes, and the final insult is that this dealer doesn't even give the car a valet before you pick it back up and relieved of your hard earned!!!

Don't know why anyone would think they will get an 'inferior' service at £44 +vat /hour. That was the labour rate charged by the factory service dept last year and they are the experts!
Never mind having your trousers forcibly pulled down, sounds like you can't get them down quickly enough and enjoy being shafted for servicing. It's attitudes like this that are keep servicing costs artificially inflated.
Is there perhaps some kudos to be had from paying over the odds? If you do, are you then entitled to brandish your receipted invoice at the next TVRCC meeting, waving it in the faces of those who you know to chose cheaper servicing options and bragging " We are considerably richer than yow!"

Silverstone's cost for a 6000 mile service was £525 inclusive last week, and my courtesy car was a T350. "Enough said" here too, I think.
And please note: the last item on the factory issued service sheet is "valet vehicle and stamp service book". So any main dealer who fails to do this is not complying with factory requirements!

According to their website, Peninsula do 6000 mile Tamora servicing for £500 and collect nationwide. Whether that costs extra, I don't know.

I definately did not get a valet on my 12K service last April at this TVR main Dealer, the book was stamped though. At that time, I didn't mind so much about the valet, as the bill came under 1K which included 2 new 18" rear tyres, but, after yesterday's shock quote for a little 6K service, I will not be using them again, priced themselves out of the market big time, IMOHO!

I have re-booked the Tam's 6K service with an ex TVR engineer, he will not skimp on anything and is a fraction of my quote from un named dealer, as we're going to Blackpool at the end of the year to see Little Britain I will book the 24K service in with TVR itself , and I bet that will STILL be cheaper than my local TVR dealer!!!Seems to me that the big dealers live off servicing the company/business cars, where the owners can set the costs off against the tax.
For me, well I got recommended a local garage which is absolutely ace and charge a fair and reasonable price for the work. Dealers stamps are OK but when the car becomes 'classic' its all down to condition IMHO.
