The right condition, not the right colour. And prepare to buy a 4.2 or Sp6, just because they might fit the above criteria.

See the many previous threads for buying advice, and the stick thread at the top of the forum for things to watch out for......

Good hunting!

One that's 300cc down on it's stated capacity.

Seriously, though... I'll regurgitate the usual advice "drive them all, then pick the one you want". I thought I wanted a 4.5, just like I imagine everyone did when they first considered owning a Cerb. Why? Because it's the daddy. But really, when you've got one, it stops being Cerb vs. Cerb, and actually becomes Cerb vs. the world. You're guaranteeing having more money tied up in the car for little, if any real world effect.

Anyway, in terms of what to look out for, here's the list of common problems: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=137564&f=6&h=0

From recent experience i would check to see to the clutch assembley has be update to the later type which I think came into affect from mid to late '99.

My clutch failed shortley after my warranty expired (which was nice) and I was told that TVR had stopped making the old style clutch and that a complete new clutch assembly was the only option which set me back best part of £2000.

Also another thing to check is to see if the front uprights have been changed to the newer type as the old one are prone to corroding and failing. This was a safety recall issue and won't cost you a penny to upgrade at your TVR main dealer. I believe there should be a sticker somewhere under the bonnet if it hs been done.

That aside, buy one, BUY ONE NOW!!! Its only money
