Am being dim with Panasonic Remote App

I have the Panasonic app on my iphone, which can see the TV because I can change volume and channel with it. When I add text via the keypad and press what I think is the submit button (arrow and letters and numbers) nothing happens. The Panasonic website is hopeless. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Same thing happens on my g30 panny.
I also find remote 1 is more stable than remote 2.
