I'm thinking about GPS for the bike. It has one main criteria in that it must be running Windows Pocket PC as I want to put CompeGPS software on for when I'm flying.

Who's got what and how do you mount it?

Does anyone use PDA and are there mounts for it or do you just stick it on the top of a tank bag?

Cheers

Garmin Streetpilot 3

Use a RAM mount on the blackbird (no cross-bar) and a touratech mount on the tigers.....

Just bought a Garmin Quest for the Fazer (and use it in the car).

Haven't got a mount yet as Garmin aren't launching it until mid Feb!

Is the Quest weatherproof then?

According to the handbook and the website it's waterprrof up to 1m for 30 mins.

(I'm assuming that means it should last for 30 mins if submerged up to 1m depth. So, a brief UK summer thunderstorm will probably drown it then!)

Seconded. I've used it all over Europe on my car & bike. Ideal for finding hotels in a strange city.

Hmmmm, I looked at the Quest but I really need to be able to run this other software or else I'll need two different GPS systems.
Trying to kill two birds with one stone here I think.

Been using it in the car ever since it arrived and I think its a cracking piece of kit. I can't see myself using it on ride 'outs' that much, as I'll propably just be riding by m nose and seeing where I end up halfway through the day.

But for getting home from somewhere. Just pressing the find button for a few seconds and it'll find me a route back within a matter of moments! Fantastic.

Also the same applies to petrol stations (handy when on the bike and having a blast) and hotels and places of interest. Bonus!

Smaller than the GPS111 too as I looked at one of those first and didn't think it would fit that well onto the bike.
Really pleased with what I got. Although, like I said, I haven't seen what the bike mount will look likw yet, but the pushbike mount might actually be more than enough for mine anyway. Need to get to a dealer to take a proper look at it first though. Its about 30 quid cheaper too!
