Vulcan bomber is flying

I must have been misinformed.....I thought they couldn't afford to keep it airworthy.

It has just flown over my house at around 400 feet (guessing), following the A1 south from Newark.
Good to see it again.

What with seeing the Red Arrows on Friday afternoon, flying over Blyton (near Gainsborough, north Lincs), I seem to be having a bit of a plane spotter's weekend.

Just need to Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to pass over at 200 feet on their way home and I will have the full set. Seems there are benefits in living close enough to the A1 to hear it.....

I guess you've not been reading ANY of the threads discussing the Vulcan right here on PH then?

When the Vulcan ceases flying it will be nothing to do with funds.

VTTS has plenty of money, there is a lack of willingness by RR aero engines and other key suppliers /holders of design authoriy to continue to support a single example in flying condition ...

If they have plenty of money then why do they try and charge everyone's credit cards if they see it flying overhead?

i'm not going to engage in dealing with a fallacy i've spent upwards of 10 years fdealing with in regard ot another organisation ...

that asset value and/or the fact an organisation is a Charity doesn't negate the need to generate income to actually deliver what it does ...

I completely understand that much like the RNLI is always raising money as they need to build boats and this year build a factory!

However by saying VTTS has loads of money, implied they've got a bank full and not counting assets. How much is the only airworthy Vulcan? And I'm assuming come the end of the year its value as an asset will reduce considerably?

Don't worry I'm not going to continue a debate but quite curious about the asset values. I just find VTTS have a very aggressive fundraising scheme. But then it's for me as an individual to choose if I pay into it.

money isn;t necessarily the issue with the cessation of lfight operations it;s a regualtory / paperwork / design authority thing and that commercial decision has jack all to do with VTTS and everythign to do ROlls ROyce aro engines and others ... much the same as COncorde was killed off by Airbus as the inheritor of the design Authority regardless of the madcap schemes of beardy etc.

I think we've missed each other completely. I know that's why the Vulcan is stopping and it wasn't helped by VTTS knack erring some engines but my initial statement was regarding loads of money.
