I am looking into buying a 996 and would like some feedback on the average mpg if driven carefully.
Also I have 2 teenage children over 5ft 6" tall and would like to know if they could travel in comfort with the sapace in the rear.

Cheers

Hello mate, the combined MPG you can expect with careful driving (motorway/city mix) is c.25mpg

Regarding the back seats: No, for 5'6" people it will be useful only for short journeys. I have transported 4 once on a 1.5 hour journey and the two rear passengers (c.5'5") said they would never do it again! And that was with both front seats further forward than the normal position.

I drive my 03 C2 hard and get 23mpg.

I have small kids and they find it a struggle in the rear for very long. Not a problem, leave them at home!

I get c18mpg and the rear space is useless for all but the smallest of kids.

I have a C2 98 and get 17 MPG. The back seats are only good for very short people and for a very short matter of time.

you definatley can get 25-30 mpg if cruising on the m/way.

As for the Kids, forget it. Itll be uncomfortable for just one let alone two.

I used to get on 23-24 mpg in my c2 - driving pretty hard really. Back seats are good and comfy for 5' tall slim adult (or large 11 year old in the case of my daughter)but only with my custom made alcantara cushions and sitting across the back seats with the portable dvd rigged-up - not a whisper out of her to 3.5 hours the last we dropped dpwn to Bristol for the weekend.

tried the back myslef once ( 6'1'' and 16.5 stone) and its good for about 15 mins tops !!

The turbo consistently returns 22-23 mpg driving pretty hard ! - the back seat alas, is no better !!

don't reset the computer too oftem on my c4 - it says i'm getting around 24 mpg - mainly town driving plus some long haul blasts.

back seets are not too good for full grown types - had 3 or 4 in car a couple of times for short trips - feedback not good!

Obviously don't drive mine hard enough.
Was concerned enough that my Contis still have 4mm tread after 20K miles, but my average mpg is embarrasingly 33-35.
Makes a huge + difference if use only for long trips and avoid cold starts, and stop start traffic drinks fuel.
