New car couple of questions
Discussion
Hi all, picked up my third V8V on Saturday and it's feels good to be back however a couple of questions that I was wondering if people could help with.
The front tyres although have lots of thread on the outside are wearing thin on the inside. It's was bought from a main dealer. I will be bringing this up with them tomorrow however should I be worried about anything else?
It's a sport shift model but when I put it in reverse it vibrates a little to much for my liking? Any ideas? I know it's not the greatest in the world but any help would be appreciated?
apart from that I'm still over the moon.
David

When you say, "in reverse it vibrates" you mean while the car is moving and being caused by the clutch.David
Which is a common issue on SS1 (on mine anyway and a couple others I have driven) Comes and goes, and is unpredictable.
You could do a few clutch learns which usually improves matters or stops it for a while.
Love your car by the way, but then again I would (V8V Roadster, Toro Red, South Northants!!!)

I'd be more worried about the perished tyres and lack of grip
+1 That's a lot of cracking of the rubber! I assume that it's a very low mileage car that has had those tyres on there for a very long time to have got that bad? If you've bought it from a dealer then I'd say you have good cause to take it back and insist on new tyres as part of the sale unless you managed to negotiate an exceptional sale price.

I'm in east Northants a few miles from Rushden. The dealer has agreed to pay for alignment although I'm more worried about the •toe out" and wear to the front inside tyres
Make sure they get a FULL allignment that includes Toe adjustment, and not just some £15 tracking job at Kwik Fit. Classic Bridgestone Potenza perish issue. When you get new ones, make sure the year of manufacture date is within the last 18months. There are many master distributors sitting on old stock. I have sent back 2 pairs on separate purchases. Th tyre fitting companies don't check. One set was four years old date and sold as new, due to last me about a year maybe before cracking issues.
Moved on to new wheels and sizes now. But this is an important tip.

I've already told the dealer that I want fresh tyres for the front. The rears were already replaced. It's an 07 Plate with 18k on so yes low mileage but it's supposed to of passed the 140 point check??? Either way I can see them trying to wriggle out of paying for a new set
Hi David, just lurking here as I have an XK but always loved the Astons. I recently had the same issues with my new purchase of a second hand XK and it took a lot of email ping pong but the dealer finally relented and paid up for two new fronts (inner wear). What helped (and I'm sure the same applies to Astons??) is that I quoted from the Jaguar Approved website on how the vehicle goes through a "thorough" test and preparation before being given the approved stamp etc. etc. It seemed to work
