Not done one of these before, here goes nothing.

So after starting in Mini's (classic) and then getting more sensible family transport in the shape of my faithful Civic VTi Aerodeck which I've had for seven and a half years, it was time for a change... So the change came in the shape of a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST3, resplendent in Spirit Blue.

After a week of ownership, I'm totally smitten. My first turbocharged car, my first Ford and the newest car I've ever owned.

So anyway, after a week of running to Salisbury and back visiting the wife in hospital it was time for a bloody good clean.

First of all, washed, cleansed with Bilt Hamber Korrosol and then claybar'd (Mer bar with AG QD spray)

Then wheels cleaned with Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel Cleaner. Worth having to watch it turn purple thumbup

After the wheels were cleaned it was on to polishing, started with Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine and then topped off with Armorall Shield.

Decent shine with reasonable reflections, a bit of swirling in the paintwork, very common on these by all accounts.

Finally the wheels were polished with a bit more AG UDS and coated with some Poorboys Wheel Sealant, with the tyres being treated to some SwissVax 'Pneu' tyre shine. Lovely

A couple of other little jobs to do on it, firstly fit some chromium indicator bulbs and contemplate the MP215 conversion further. But overall, I'm very, very happy.

I don't mind the symposer, it doesn't really bother me, but I don't do prolonged motorway journeys very often. It is a loveable car, for sure thumbup

Some very basic mods which I think help, chromium bulbs to replace the standard orange indicators. A wee bit fiddly on one side, but to my mind well worth it.

Before

After

Rears will be done once I have the trim tool to remove the rear light unit.

Well done it is a nice little starter car. I remember when I first learned how to drive too, being obsessive about cleaning! We did not use fancy clay it was not yet en vogue! Never worry, the shine of such things wears away and you will soon have concentration on the drive.

I'll bear that in mind, after all, we can't look after something and drive it properly can we? Perhaps in the next ten years of driving it will wear off..

Please! Do not be angry, I was simply relaying that I too was once obsessive about cleanliness in my motorist early years. When you get a little more used to the possession of a car it falls by the wayside somewhat, a phenomenon many new drivers experience.

The Dogging Father, please be accepting of my apology. I misread your initial posting and incorrectly believed you to be a youngster carried away with the vigour and excitement of youth.

I notice you speak of your wife, I am hoping that she is well. Kindest regards, Hermann.
