Hi there, new poster here, long time lurker. Thought I'd introduce myself with the Celica I picked up for £2,500 last month. Only 55k on the clock, but, disappointingly no service history, hence probably why it was so cheap. Drives like a dream, love this car more than the 13 plate Fiesta Zetec S I used to have. Don't let this photo deceive you, cosmetically it's a bit tired; scuff on front bumper, laquer on alloys are peeling to name a few. Really not arsed about sorting these out, as long as it drives well and I look after it mechanically, hopefully it shouldn't give me any problems. Looked at it's MOT history before buying and the only advisories and failures to crop up were on tyres alone, so it must have been well looked after, right?

Not necessarily, but the newer engines are bomb proof and fantastic. Is it the 190 or 140?
I suggest fitting an induction kit as it gives great noise on full throttle but normal when on half, so you appear civilised in town but can still enjoy the noise on a decent back road.

It's the 140bhp one. I quite liked the idea of the 190, but I couldn't find one within my budget with low miles. Don't they guzzle oil?

It was the early 140's that guzzled oil

If you really wanted a 190 I'd have got one - high miles are not really an issue, I bought my 190 a few weeks ago with 117k on the clock, FSH with Toyota and feels like new

I might get one for my next car, will have to see. Personally I'm quite weary about high mileage cars, but that's just me
