Supra rack help
Discussion
Hi guys
Sent my supra/tvr rack for refurb at local steering firm. When they bench test it,it just spurts oil straight out of the pinion (column input shaft) oil seal at the top of the distribution casing. The force is that bad it brings the circlip out as well, breaking it. They have not got a clue as to why. He told me they are using 700 to 1000 psi (and it should take more) and it covered their workshop with oil. Asked the usual questions to them and apparently they have tried everything to no avail. Have got rack back of them. Now, can anyone send me a pic/schematic of which pipe goes were in the distribution casting, I am hoping this is the problem. If not I am thinking for whatever reason there is a crack inside casting allowing the high pressure input to access this area and cause the problem. Any ideas please. If all else fails who has a supra/Tvr rack they will sell me. It went for a refurb because of a leak somewhere round the distribution casting area. Not a gigantic spurt out leak, more of a little drip drip leak.
Thanks guys

Hi mate...Thats unfortunate..Surely they should be able to see what is happening with it..All bar the metal casing is repairable and even then...Who did you send it to?...Reply to my email and i will send you the Wedge parts manual...There is a section in there as regards to the rack...Its very brief though and doesn't show where pipes go..That should be obvious as the feed..(High pressure side) is a 19mm banjo fitting and the other is a..10mm return on the pump...Im sure the fittings are corresponding on the rack also?....

Got to agree with Phil. If you send it to Kylie Clinton it will be sorted. They also had a few in stock already rebuilt when they did mine last year. Mine needed loads of bits changing damaged pinion etc.ATB
