Hi All,

I've been very happily running an F10 M5 for the past 2 and a bit years since picking one up in the contract hire bargain fest of 2013. It's due to go back in September (done just over 20k miles now so planning some nice jaunts this summer before it goes) so I've started looking at what to replace it with. Had pretty much decided on a Cayenne Diesel (the wife has a Golf R so thought I could use that for my speed kicks) as I have 3 kids and often have a mountain bike in the back or multiple bikes on the root, but went and test drove one, only to get back into the M5 and fall in love with it all over again!

I quite fancied an E63 Estate, but went and sat in one and the interior does nothing for me at all and as it needs to be a 5 seater with decent boot and roof rack/towbar option, there's not much else for me to look at (Used X5M or Cayenne Turbo a vague possibility, but it would probably end up being used by the wife midweek and drink fuel like there's no tomorrow). I have the option to extend my contract hire for 12 months, but that would mean the last 6 months the car would be out of warranty which I don't like the sound of.

So was chatting this over with a mate who also got an M5 in 2013, and he offered me the option to take over the lease on his as he wants out. He drove a harder bargain than me so his is higher spec for the same money (20s, LED adaptive lights, alcantara headlining, tow bar, reverse camera) plus his is the LCi model, so it seems like it could be a good idea for a year (the towbar would be very useful with a bike rack and is the one thing I regret not getting on mine) and then get the 911 that I really want next year and change the wife's golf for a big family car at the same time.

Has anyone gone from M5 to LCi M5? Does it 'feel' any different? The only slight negative for me is the colour - mine is space grey with sekhir orange interior and his is space grey with black leather, so a bit dull, but still looks different enough to feel different if that makes sense?

Can't think of anything else I'd rather have for the money - love the look of the M6 GC but the M5 is borderline too small at times on family holidays etc.

Am I mad!?

I'll do that next year when the finance is up on her Golf, but I need something for the next 12-18 months and my mate's M5 seems like it could be the ideal solution!

As you like M5s I think it makes total sense

Could you not try and buy yours though - the company will have to do something

Also, can I ask how you much you paid for yours when you got the original deal please

I could try and buy mine, but it will be out of warranty soon and I suspect that it will continue to lose money at an alarming rate!
I pay £650 pcm inc VAT on 10k miles on a 6+29 deal (unsure why it was 30 months in total) with a few options - upgraded sounds, split fold rear seats, M-Multifunction seats and that's about it. £23k for 2 1/2 years and 25,000 miles in a new M5 seems like great value to me.
