Which is probably why whatever butcher did the battery in this "obvious fake" recently didn't worry aout removing the back with (presumably) a road hammer:

Sadly, in this case, it was a genuine Rolex quartz:

Not sure that's getting fixed without a trip back to Rolex for re-casing frown

Shame, like the oyserquartz, nearly bought a nice one at a very good price but car needed fixing at the time so had to pass on the chance. It would have been a keeper.

The really unfortunate bit is that it's exactly the sort of thing the Swiss use to justify "service centre only" policies, ignoring the fact that unavailability of spares won't make an ounce of difference to the (thankfully few) people who do this sort of thing.

There are some real idiots in the world. What a way to ruin a beautiful watch.

My father in law fell and damaged his quartz Rolex. He asked me to take it to the small independent (and well regarded according to TZ forum) jeweller he had bought all his watches from. After several weeks I went to pick it up only for him to say it was still broken and the quartz Rolex's weren't worth fixing, the centre spindle (probably not the correct term) was bent causing the hands to jam.

Ended up an insurance claim.
