windscreen wiper failure
Discussion
on the way into work this morning the wipers failed on both the intermittent settings and the wash wipe setting...only the fastest setting still works (and that doesn't return the blades to the normal resting point)...any ideas for a quick fix or is this going to be a trip to the factory job??
(have searched the 6month archives and found nothing)

I'm not sure but that sounds electrical !
maybe a switch or fuse ?
Have you had any trouble with the wipers colliding ?
I'd have thought a good local mechanic or sparky may well be able to sort it. Otherwise a dealer should be able to do it, doubt you'll need to go to the factory.

Thanks lucozade, but my wipers aren't even moving unless I have them on max power as it were. I had spotted your thread in my archive trawl...but I think my problem is electrical...will report back later
Ok m8. Mine were not returning to their correct resting place. Might be worth while having a go yourselves though. Problem may be related.

I couldn't find a bolt that correspeonded to your description. Mine do the full travel that they should, its just I have to turn them off at the right time for them to be out of the way if you see what I mean. Is that what you were experiencing, or were they just not going back down all the way?
whatever it was, the car seems to have fixed itself without any interference by anybody (this is the second time, the first being the window winder...this is getting kind of spooky now)...the blades now work again in all locations (falling back to proper resting place)...if it happens again I'll take on board the comments about checking the positioning, and I'll give this rainex stuff a go.
thanks for all the advice guys.

Aha, could this be the ghost of that African Chief, from Rourke's Drift, who hitched a ride in your M12 at Port Elizabeth and is getting back at us!!! ;-(
do do do do - do do do do, you are now entering the Twiglet zone!!!

Sorry DanH my description is no doubt poor !
Yes I had to time switching them off at the right time for them to be out of the way. Most of the time I couldn't do this either.
Mine were not returning back to the left hand side if that makes sense.
The bolt I was referring to is on the passenger side.
