Something interesting for £20k?

As title, please suggest something interesting for less than £20k.

Not looking for something stupidly expensive to fix, nor something still depreciating. Speed not too important.

Want something up and running, so no projects.

Currently considering VW Split screens, Karmann Ghia or (but out of my budget) a Delorean.

I would suggest a really nice Mercedes R107 SL.

Having owned a DeLorean I wouldn't bother if I were you. They are a novelty that wears off after a very short while.

MUSTANG!! You won't get many things easier or cheaper to fix. There's even a '65 Convertible on the owners club website that looks nice for £18.5k. Easy motorway cruiser, reasonable handling (after a few easy mods e.g. swapping springs/shocks/anti-roll bars), good parts availability, good social scene, 20mpg, etc. etc.

Delta integrale looks totally unloved at 20k there. Seen far better about.

The guy's not "chancing it" at all, he's demonstrating that he knows more about the 6 series BMW than you guys do!

You're getting the 635CSi Motorsport edition confused with the M635CSi Motorsport edition.

The 635CSi Motorsport edition was basically the standard 635 with slightly lowered/stiffer suspension and the same sport bodykit as was fitted to the later plastic bumpered M635 CSi's. The engine in the Motorsport edition was the standard 12 valve, 3420cc, 216BHP engine and the gearbox was the standard automatic.

The M635CSi Motorsport shared the bodykit with the 635CSi Motorsport, but was also fitted with the 24valve, 3453cc, 286BHP engine and a dog-leg close ratio manual gearbox.
