In slightly different direction to the Project Managers thread, are there any ex-PM's on here? I would be interested in hearing what PM's have gone on to do.

Any experiences or observations of moving on from being a PM would be welcome.

I am still a PM (for now), but a few ex-colleagues have moved on to Programme Management, Service Delivery, Sales/Account Management, Solutions Architecture and Practice Management roles.

Not sure what will be next for me, right now I would settle for a PM contract!

PM skills have been very useful throughout, the principles have been are very, very useful - right down to the basics of project planning and management of risks/assumptions/issues/dependencies in almost every context - it shows disciplined thinking to senior management.

Now a team and leadership development consultant having moved from PM in to a senior line mgt role first.

PM skills are still very useful to me for structuring thinking and working with senior people. And PMing is all about the people, anyway....

From Project to Product Management.

I remember a CEO burst my pm bubble when he said PM's were just admin bods who nag everyone else. Thats when I twigged I needed a change.
